#17: Kentucky – Beer Cheese Dip and Crackers
Kentuckians don’t just drink their beer—they dip into it. On the 4th of July, beer cheese dip makes its way onto every table, picnic blanket, and tailgate cooler from Paducah to Pikeville. It’s creamy, sharp, and spiked with enough heat to make you reach for another cold drink.

Legend has it that the dip was invented in the 1930s near Winchester, combining cheddar, garlic, and lager into an addictive spread. It’s not a main dish. It doesn’t need to be. Because in Kentucky, beer cheese isn’t the star—it’s the glue holding the cookout together, one cracker at a time.
