#32: Kurt Vonnegut Loved Cheers More Than His Own Classics
Legendary author Kurt Vonnegut was such a massive Cheers fan that he once said he’d “rather have written Cheers” than any of his own novels. Coming from the mind behind Slaughterhouse-Five and Cat’s Cradle, that’s about as big a compliment as a sitcom can get.

Vonnegut adored the show’s sharp writing, warm characters, and perfect blend of humor and heart. To him, Cheers represented storytelling at its finest: simple, human, and deeply connected to its audience. It’s wild to think that a literary icon wished he’d created the bar “where everybody knows your name.”
