#57: The Time in Between Was Black
This person was unconscious for two weeks after a pulmonary embolism caused by DVT. Their memory had a clear beginning and end, but nothing in the middle. They said, “I remember going in and coming out. The time in between was black.”

What made the return noticeable was the contrast. They had “very vivid dreams” when they woke, and that was how they knew they were back. The near-death stretch itself was not filled with images or voices. It was simply black, until consciousness returned.
