#46: Everything Went Black Like Sleep
After a heroin and Xanax overdose, this person said they had to be resuscitated, though they did not know exactly how long they were gone. Their memory of the experience was empty: “I don’t remember seein anything at all. I don’t remember anything about it.”

What they did remember was the transition. “Everything just went black and then became conscious much, much later.” They compared it to sleep, except with one frightening difference: they had been “very close to not waking up without even knowing at all.”
