#27: Funerals for Fallen Fighters
When gladiators died, their deaths didn’t always fade into silence. Some schools honored them with proper funerals, complete with monuments or inscriptions. Fallen fighters were sometimes buried like heroes, remembered for their bravery in the arena. Death, though tragic, could bring a strange kind of respect and recognition.

These ceremonies reflected the dual nature of gladiators. They were entertainers, but also warriors who risked everything. Honoring them after death gave meaning to their sacrifices. It allowed the Roman public to mourn, even as they demanded blood from the living. Glory continued beyond the grave.
